God's plan: Stand Up For Him
My comedy career began when a coworker signed me up for an open mic at a local comedy club. I was scared to death, but I wrote a 7 minute routine and did it. There was a competition that night and much to my surprise I won! That led me to the "Florida’s Funniest Person" semi-finals where I placed in the top 5 which moved me on to the finals where I placed fourth over all! It was just my third time on stage. Comedy was fun! Over the next year though, I concentrated on my daughters’ college graduation and her wedding, there was no time for comedy. I was only able to do a few open mics, here and there. I attended AMTC in the summer of 2009 and was asked to perform in a showcase. There I was, my 8th time on stage, performing in front of 2500 people. It fueled my desire to make others laugh but still there was just no time. In March of 2010, I was asked to perform at Taffi Dollars’ Women’s Conference at the World Changers Dome in Atlanta. There were over 7000 women in attendance and it was there that I realized God had a much bigger plan for my comedy. There is no other way that I could do so much, so fast. God kept calling me but I was too scared to listen. Finally in March of 2011, with the encouragement of my husband,  I decided to put my trust in God and see where He wanted to take me. It has been amazing and I have been all over the country doing my "Stand Up For Him". You never know what God has planned for you until you take that first step. It doesnt matter how old you are or how inadequate you feel, He can accomplish anything as long as you get out of the way and let Him. And I promise you that the only regret that you will ever have when you step out in faith is that you did not do it sooner.
